    Lucas Coly has died at the age of 27, manager confirms – NBC New York

    Lucas Coly, a French-American rapper and social media influencer known for his song “I Just Wanna,” has died, his manager confirmed Thursday. He was 27 years old.

    No cause of death was immediately given. Coly’s manager captioned an Instagram post #checkonyourfriends, sparking speculation that the artist may have committed suicide.

    The last story that Coly himself posted on Instagram simply read: “I love you guys.”

    Coly rose to fame on Vine more than a decade ago when he started sharing videos of himself rapping in English and French. He has built a large social media following across multiple platforms and currently has over a million followers Instagram and half a million to his YouTube page.

    He gained even more attention when he started dating Instagram star Amber H in 2017. The following year they launched a YouTube channel together.

    Coly was born in France and moved to the United States with his family at the age of 8.

    Fans were distraught over his death. Some expressed hope that it was “fake news.”

    “My heart hurts… I loved you since grade school!” wrote one Instagram user.

    “Rest in paradise, young king,” wrote another.

    Coly’s song “I Just Wanna” has over 15 million views on platforms like YouTube and is considered a fan favorite. Other popular songs include “Break Ya Back” and “My Lil Shawty.”
