Palm Beach County Verizon wireless customers affected by service outage

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A nationwide cell service outage made for a bad start to the work week for West Palm Beach resident Irene Martin.

“I couldn’t make a call. I tried again and again. I tried several times, but it just didn’t work,” said Martin. “So I decided to make a trip to the Verizon store.”

Martin was one of 100,000 Verizon customers who reported the problem. She said her iPhone was in ‘SOS’ mode, which affected her workday.

“I just couldn’t do anything today. My whole day is wasted,” said Martin. “My whole day.”

According to Downdetector, the aggregate tracker for technical faults, the majority of the faults were reported on the east coast. Martin argued that it prevented her from making – and receiving – business calls.

“I had to do some work, and I don’t think the emails even went through,” Martin says.

WPTV’s Zitlali Solache contacted Verizon Wireless, who returned this statement:

“Engineers are making progress on our network issue and service is being restored. We know how much people rely on Verizon and we apologize for any inconvenience some of our customers may have experienced today. We continue to work around the clock to fully resolve this issue.”

While Verizon reported Monday evening that they have fully repaired their network issues, Martin hopes she doesn’t have to go through this again.

Verizon is already working to restore service in areas devastated by Hurricane Helene last week. Georgia and North Carolina are among the states that have suffered the most damage.
