Andy Reid: Rashee Rice is still undergoing tests

The Chiefs are bracing for bad news about Rashee Rice, but head coach Andy Reid did not have a confirmed diagnosis when he spoke to reporters at his press conference on Monday.

“As for Rashee’s injury, we are still testing him about things here” said Reid. “So I don’t have a definitive (diagnosis) for you at this time. But we will get it to you. Obviously he won’t be available this week. So we’re going to make sure that we get all the testing done that needs to be done. And then we will let you know.”

It is feared that Rice has torn his cruciate ligament. He was hit after quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception in the first half of Sunday’s eventual victory over the Chargers.

Rice, a second-round pick in last year’s draft, had become Mahomes’ favorite receiver early this season. He recorded 24 receptions for 288 yards with two touchdowns in the first three games.

The Chiefs are already without Hollywood Brown and currently have Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson and Skye Moore at receiver on the 53-man roster. They have Justyn Ross, Nikko Remigio and Montrell Washington at receiver on the practice squad.
