    Penn State Football will have another prime opportunity to bolster its College Football Playoff resume in Week 5, and it will be on national television.

    Fresh off a 56-0 shutout win over Kent State last week, No. 8 Penn State (3-0) welcomes No. 21 Illinois (4-0, 1-0 in Big Ten play) to Beaver Stadium at 7:30 PM ET for NBC’s Big Ten Saturday Night showdown. Saturday’s game marks the first time Penn State has played Illinois at home since 2021, when the Nittany Lions won 20-18 in a nine-overtime game.

    Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar is off to a strong start to the season, where he is tied for second in the Big Ten in touchdowns at eight. In last week’s game against Kent State, the 6-foot-4 sharpshooter threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns with just four incomplete passes.

    Meanwhile, Illinois heads to University Park at high speed as the Fighting Illini picked up their second win of the season in Week 4 in overtime against then-No. 22 Nebraska. Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer has completed 75 of 105 passes for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season.
