Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence injury: Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy shares on update

The Cowboys got some bad injury news on Friday night, with Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy revealing it DeMarcus Lawrence’s A sprained foot is worse than Micah Parsons’ ankle injury. The head coach said both players will get second opinions, but both injuries are worse than they initially expected. according to Jon Machota.

Earlier on Friday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Lawrence was expected to miss several weeks following the injury. Lawrence limped off the field during the third quarter. He then headed to the locker room to take an X-ray, which came back negative. Lawrence didn’t seem too concerned about the injury.

“I’ll be right back,” Lawrence said after the game.

He added: “It hurts, but it will be fine.”

However, given Pelissero’s timeline, it appears Lawrence will miss the Week 5 road tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0), as well as the Week 6 home game against the Detroit Lions (2-1). The Cowboys have a bye in Week 7, giving Lawrence plenty of time to rest and recover for the second half of the season.

He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter after hitting the Giants offensive lineman Greg VanRoten fell on his leg while rushing the passerby. Parsons had to be carted off the field and was seen walking gingerly when the team arrived back in Dallas Friday morning.

“Right now I just have it frozen,” Parsons said. “I know very little. I have an MRI on Friday and I’m going to try to come back next week.

Parsons was relatively contained by New York’s offensive line, with just two tackles and zero quarterback hits. Lawrence, meanwhile, recorded the Cowboys’ only sack.
