    The Dallas Cowboys came to East Rutherford, New Jersey, desperate to find some offensive rhythm and see their defense take a big step forward. While it wasn’t perfect, they found a way to get their second win of the year 20-15.

    It was a closely contested game, with the New York Giants continually chipping away at Dallas’ lead despite not scoring a touchdown that night. Aided by a rare missed field goal by Brandon Aubrey with 32 seconds left, the Giants had one last chance to complete the comeback.

    However, with no timeouts and half the field having to be covered, Daniel Jones had to persevere and try to make something happen. That desperation allowed Amani Oruwariye to seal a Dallas win with an interception.

    Dak Prescott finished the game 22 of 27 for 221 passing yards and two touchdown passes. CeeDee Lamb was one of the main beneficiaries of the production, finishing the game with seven receptions, 98 yards and one touchdown.

    The Giants entered the night knowing they might have chances to beat the Cowboys defense. Although they had their chances, they failed to score a touchdown and settled for five field goals.

    Jones finished the night 29-for-40 for 281 passing yards and one interception. The standout rookie wide receiver was the lone highlight for the Giants’ offense, with 12 receptions and 115 receiving yards.

    Dallas is now entering a mini-bye week at a good time. Both Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence left the game with injuries.

    Next up, Dallas has the weekend off before preparing to travel to Pittsburgh on Oct. 6 to take on the Steelers.

    Brandon Aubrey has a rare missed field goal that gave the Giants life in midfield. With the football and less than a minute remaining, the Giants made one last attempt to take the lead and walk out with a victory. However, Amani Oruwariye seals a Dallas win with an interception. Dallas hangs on at 20-15 to earn their second win of the season.

    A touchdown drive may have ruined this game. However, Dallas’ offensive possession ground to a halt. Aubrey puts another one through the uprights, this time from 40 yards out, to cut Dallas’ lead to five, 20-15.

    Despite having plenty of chances to convert on six tonight, New York has failed to score a touchdown through three quarters. They are still within striking distance deep into the fourth quarter, and their final field goal attempt from 42 yards out cuts the Cowboys’ lead to just two, 17-15.

    Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey is as automatic as they come in the NFL, and after an offensive drive stalled at midfield, he got a chance to show why again. Dallas was unsuccessful on a third down pass to Brandin Cooks, giving Aubrey a 60-yard field goal attempt. The Pro Bowl kicker punched through with room to spare, extending Dallas’ lead back to five, 17-12.

    New York came out of the half with a methodical drive that ended at the Dallas 3-yard line. This time Joseph is good from 22 meters out, cutting the lead to 14-12.

    It was a messy half for both teams, with eleven penalties conceded in the first two quarters. Despite the sloppiness, the Cowboys found an offensive rhythm by scoring two touchdowns. The Giants found a groove of their own, controlling much of the time of possession, but could only convert field goals from their chances. Giants get the ball to start the second half trailing 14-9.

    New York dominated possession for much of the first half and controlled the ball for more than 18 minutes. The Giants’ third field goal from 38 yards out, cutting the Cowboys’ lead to five, 14–9.

    The Cowboys offense seems to be firing on all cylinders early tonight, cashing in their second touchdown in as many possessions. This time, Prescott finds CeeDee Lamb for a 55-yard pass, giving Dallas a 14-6 lead midway through the second quarter.

    The Giants haven’t been able to reach the end zone yet tonight, but they have scored field goals on two of their first three possessions. The second of these came from 41 yards to reduce their deficit to one.

    Dallas’ offense has struggled to get going this season, but on their second possession of the night, they were able to answer with a touchdown drive to take their first lead of the night. A 12-play, 75-yard possession was capped by a screen pass from Dak Prescott to running back Rico Dowdle from 15 yards out. Dallas is up 7-3 early.

    After a stagnant opening possession for the Cowboys offense, Daniel Jones and the Giants were able to sustain a drive capped by a 52-yard field goal by Greg Joseph. The drive was aided by a 39-yard reception by wide receiver Malik Nabers.

    ESPN: Three of the four ESPN analysts who picked Thursday night’s matchup are leaning toward the Cowboys. Dallas’ recent dominance in the rivalry, mixed with unrest around how good the Giants are, still leaves the Cowboys as the favorite in this one.

    Piet Prisco: CBS’ Pete Prisco believes the Cowboys will get back on track Thursday after a tough two weeks. The Giants looked good in their win against the Browns last week, he writes, but he’s picking Dallas to win comfortably in this Week 4 matchup.

    Tony Catalina, Austin American statesman: The Cowboys have had a tough two weeks, and with kickoff on Thursday night, they don’t have much time to dwell on it. However, the quick turnaround against a familiar opponent could be what they need. Dallas has dominated the Giants in recent years, and while it may not be a blowout on Thursday night, the Cowboys should have plenty of firepower to get their second win of the season.
