The United States has an early lead over the international team after the first day of the Presidents Cup at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec.

The American group is looking to secure a tenth straight victory in the Presidents Cup and will face a team featuring golfers from Africa, Asia, Canada and Mexico.

With Team USA posting a 17.5-12.5 victory in the 2022 Presidents Cup, captain Jim Furyk’s team is already off to a good start.

The second day of the Presidents Cup features a number of well-known combinations, starting with Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The duo has played together as a team at least once in every Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup dating back to 2019.

Meanwhile, the pairings of Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley, as well as Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala, will advance after the duos secured wins to start the event. However, the International Team will have five new two-man groups on Friday.

After a strong start on Thursday, it’s hard to imagine the United States losing the event for the first time since 1998. The American team consists of four of the top six players in the World Golf Rankings, including Scheffler at No. 1 and Schauffele at No. 1. 2.

While the two top golfers likely won’t be paired together as Furyk’s team looks to earn as many points as possible, they should still lead the way in the United States’ quest to break the all-time record of 12-1-1 in the Presidents class to further improve. Cup.

After an impressive first day, expect the American team to earn its 13th win by the end of the weekend.
