Inside Hoda Kotb’s Move to the Suburbs Ahead of Her Departure from ‘Today’

Hoda Kotb is trading her hectic mornings at the Today show for a quieter life in the suburbs with her kids.

Page Six has learned that the beloved journalist recently purchased a home in Bronxville, New York, before announcing her departure from the morning news program after 26 years with the show, to make a fresh start.

Home construction company EC Builders Inc. shared in an Instagram post on August 19 that they, along with designers Rona Schloss, had been tasked with renovating Kotb’s new property in just “a few months.”

EC Builders Inc. said they completed the “remodel project just in time for Hoda Kotb and her family to move in with just a few weeks to spare at the end of the summer.”

The presenter, who has daughters Haley (7) and Hope (4) with her ex Joel Schiffman, seemed delighted with the results of the renovation, flashing a big smile as she sat on the couch.

Earlier on Thursday, as she emotionally explained her decision to leave “Today,” Kotb opened up about how her two daughters are a big part of the reason she wanted to start this new chapter.

“I thought they deserve a bigger share of my time than I have,” she said on the live show.

“I feel like we only have a limited amount of time. And so, with all that said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”

Bronxville seems like a great neighborhood for Kotb to raise her daughters in, as the city has an award-winning school system and two college campuses in the city: Sarah Lawrence and Concordia.

Earlier this month, the mother of two, who previously lived on the Upper West Side, excitedly told co-host Jenna Bush Hager about her new neighborhood.

“Everything changed so much. I have a whole new city and a whole new school and all these new things,” she said at the time on “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” according to Realtor.com.

“We went for our first day of school, I had a coffee with me, and I (wore) sneakers, and I walked my kids to school like normal people. It was amazing.”

Kotb’s quaint English village has a yellow brick road running through its historic residential district, lined with shops, restaurants and homes from the 1800s through the 1960s.

Bronxville is also considered an “affluent” community and was ranked #8 on Bloomberg’s 2018 list of “America’s 100 Richest Places.”

But one resident once told the New York Times: “It’s not flashy or fancy. It’s busy all day long.”

Another added: “Everyone walks, even kids, and yet we’re only half an hour from Grand Central.”

Although it is located outside the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, it is still relatively close to the Big Apple.

Bronxville is approximately 45 minutes from New York City by train and only 35 minutes by car.

Although Kotb has left her gigs on “Today” and “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” we’re told producers hope the famed news anchor will remain with the shows in “some capacity.”

“We have time to work it out,” a source noted after raising the possibility that Kotb could continue doing special interviews or producing her “Making Space” podcast.
