Reba McEntire Makes Snoop Dogg Cry on ‘The Voice’

During the season 26 premiere of “The Voice” on Monday, country legend Reba McEntire made an unforgettable move that left everyone, including fellow coach, behind Snoop Dogcrying.

After contestant Kendall Eugene poured his heart and soul into a soulful rendition of Morgan Wallen‘Don’t Thank Jesus’ didn’t turn any chairs, but that didn’t stop the coaches from praising him and encouraging him to try again next season.

Reba McEntire didn’t leave it at that, though. She immediately regretted not turning her chair around.

Reba decided to step in in a way no one expected. She told Eugene, “I liked everything,” to which he told her that she “should have turned to him.”

“I wanted to say the exact same words,” the singer said. “I don’t know why I didn’t turn around.”

She wasn’t done yet! In a moment of surprise, she announced that she was about to make “The Voice” “history” by becoming the very first coach to use the Coach Replay button.

Reba McEntire’s Move Brings Snoop Dogg to Tears

This brand new feature allows coaches to change their minds after a blind audition if they didn’t turn around the first time, giving Eugene a second chance that no one expected.

“We have a new thing this year, which is a Coach Replay button. I’m going to use mine,” she said as she pressed her button, causing Eugene to immediately burst into tears. Even Snoop Dogg couldn’t hold back, visibly moved by the heartfelt moment that took the entire room by surprise.

“Wow! Give that man a hug,” he said.

“I love that song that Kendall sang. And after the song ended, I felt a little numb. I knew in my heart that I wanted him on my team,” Reba told her fellow coaches. “I’m so happy, for the first time ever, we have a Coach Replay button. It’s a second chance for the coaches when we realize we missed this moment.”

When the camera panned back to Snoop, he could be seen wiping tears from his face.

Reba is back in her red chair for the third season in a row, following her big win with Asher HaVon in season 25. She coaches alongside Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg.

“She’s a magnet for talent,” Snoop said of Reba. “She says all the right things… Reba Magnet-tyre, that’s what we call her on set.”

“She doesn’t even have to say anything,” he continued. “Sometimes people just come to be with her.”

Reba’s journey on “The Voice” began in the show’s first season in 2011, when she served as a battle advisor for Team Blake SheltonFast forward to February of last year and she made a triumphant comeback as a mega-mentor, providing invaluable advice to the contestants preparing for the intense knockout rounds.

In a twist of fate, the 68-year-old revealed in 2020 that she had actually been approached to be a coach on the first season of “The Voice.” However, she turned down the opportunity, allowing Shelton to step in. Now, in a role reversal, Reba has taken Shelton’s spot after he announced his retirement.

“I’ve been struggling with this for a while now and I’ve decided it’s time to step away from ‘The Voice’ after season 23,” he shared on Instagram at the time. “This show has changed my life for the better and will always feel like home.”

“It was a top show in the Netherlands, I’m pretty sure, and I watched the tape and I said, ‘No, I’m going to skip that,’ because I don’t think I could ever tell someone they’re terrible or get another job or hope that you like your night job,” she said during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” “I couldn’t do that day in and day out. I couldn’t do it. So I skipped it.”

However, McEntire later admitted that she regretted her decision after seeing the show’s immense success. “After seeing a successful show that’s been running for, what, 15 years? Uh, yeah! I was like, shoot; I should have done that,” she added.
