Term spoke with Goodali after his America has talent won and told us he was shocked by the results.

“I went into every part of the show with no expectations,” Goodall told us. “I just went out there and put it all out there on stage. I sang a song and whatever happens, happens. I just went out there, every time, and had fun and absorbed everything I learned here on the show.”

Goodall’s greatest support during this experience was his wife, who accompanied him through the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

“She would say, ‘You know what, you’re going to make it. If we just pick the right song, you’re going to make it,'” Goodall recalled his wife telling him. “And every round we would jump the hurdle until I was finally crowned the winner, which still hasn’t… I don’t think it’s sunk in yet.”

Goodall said the prize money “is going to change our lives” and noted that “whatever happens after the show, I’m sure it will just be the icing on the cake.”

“We’re going to buy a nice little house and retire, maybe in style, and then see what other opportunities lie ahead,” he added.

Goodall said he wanted his story to inspire people to never give up on their dreamsremembering that he had auditioned for AGT in 2009 but didn’t make it.

“I’ve been a fan of the show for years,” he said. “I tried it and it wasn’t like I gave up, it was just like that’s how it was meant to be, that’s how it was meant to be. And now here I am at my age, doing it again.”
