New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers was among those who watched Jayden Daniels’ impressive performance as the rookie quarterback helped the Washington Commanders beat the Cincinnati Bengals 38-33.

Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that Daniels had put in an “unbelievable performance” and “played unbelievably well.” He added that he had watched a lot of college video of the former LSU star because he was scouting ex-Tigers wideouts Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers, who were potential draft targets for the Jets.

“Unbelievable” might be an understatement. He was nearly perfect against Cincinnati, going 21 of 23 for 254 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He was also Washington’s leading rusher, with 39 yards and a score on 12 carries.

It’s far too early in Daniels’ career to attach any greater significance to what happened Monday night. But that doesn’t mean fans shouldn’t get excited about his clear potential, especially for a team that has been starved for a viable starting solution since Kirk Cousins left in 2018.

It’s clear other quarterbacks around the league also have eyes for the 23-year-old.
