‘Wordle’ #1,193 Hints, Clues and Answers for Tuesday September 24 Game

Do you find today Wordle particularly difficult? Newsweek contains some tips that can help you guess the word correctly.

Brooklyn-based software engineer Josh Wardle developed the game and launched it in October 2021. Its popularity grew rapidly, from 91 players in November 2021 to 2 million players in January 2022. This caught the attention of The New York Timeswho purchased the game that same month for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.

The rules of the game are quite simple. Players are given six chances to guess the daily five-letter word, and feedback is provided each time the player submits a guess. A green box means the correct letter was guessed in the correct place, a yellow box means you guessed a letter that is in the word but not in the correct place, and a gray box indicates that the letter is not in today’s word at all. There is no time limit for the game.

While I’m talking to you Newsweek Wardle said in January 2022 that there’s a special reason why players get six chances to guess the five-letter word.

“That may seem arbitrary, but with the prototype version I tested different word lengths and experimented with the number of attempts players were allowed to make,” he said at the time. “Through that refinement process I found that five letters and six attempts was the sweet spot. It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and make you think, but most of the time people still manage to solve it. So you feel really accomplished.”
