The Buffalo Bills beat the Jacksonville Jaguars so badly that our sister site Big Cat Country published their postgame recap post before the end of the first half. The Buffalo Bills offense was unstoppable and the defense was surprisingly resilient, forcing the Jaguars to rely primarily on passing early on.

Josh Allen is the league’s MVP so far

The Buffalo quarterback is second in the NFL in passing touchdowns (7, Sam Darnold has 8), but when you add in his 2 rushing touchdowns, he leads the league in scoring. He was electric in the first half, completing 22 of 28 passes for 247 yards and four TD passes. He’s the first QB with four first-half passing touchdowns on Monday Evening Football since 2007. The touchdowns also relied heavily on Allen’s specialty. On the first one to Dalton Kincaid, Allen ran to his right to buy time and found the second-year tight end running over the end line. On the last one before halftime, Allen again had to avoid pressure, this time to his left, before a flick of the wrist found his third-string running back on the goal line. He added three carries for 22 yards, including fourth-down and third-and-long conversions to extend drives.

I also want to personally thank Josh Allen for sliding instead of taking hits at several points in the game. They didn’t need Josh tonight.

Buffalo’s defense made the Jaguars one-dimensional

Jacksonville had less than 65 yards at halftime and they were in catch-up mode to start the second half. On their first drive of the third quarter, they had 3 runs of 10 plays, including a 4th-and-1 conversion. On the second drive, they had 3 runs of 16, including a 4th-and-1 conversion. The third drive of the half went four and out with no runs. At this point, the Bills sent in their backups and the Jags played for respect. The Bills had four sacks that night, the Damar Hamlin interception, and a late fumble recovery. We thought defense was the biggest concern last weekend, but they didn’t pay that price in Week 3.

Buffalo led 34-3 at halftime. It was the largest halftime deficit in Jaguars history. The lead is tied for the third largest in Bills franchise history and is the largest since November 1992!

Everyone eats

The Bills have adopted the “everybody eats” motto this season in place of Stefon Diggs, and they embodied it throughout the game. 10 different Bills caught passes in the first 35 minutes, and the four touchdowns went to four different receivers. It’s only the 10th time in team history that the number of pass-catchers has reached double figures. In total, six different Bills scored touchdowns, with Tyler Bass being the seventh player to score. On the season, the Bills lead the NFL with six different players catching touchdown passes.
