A Guide to iOS 18’s Hidden Features and Minor Updates

Apple’s iOS 18 update has been available to all users since September 16. Leading up to the release of Apple Intelligence, major new features include the ability to customize Home screen icons, swap app shortcuts on the Lock screen, a redesigned Control Center, support for RCS, and the new Passwords app.

But there are many more small and nice changes that might be useful.

We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite, lesser-known features that you may have missed.

Institutions

  • Instead of listing all apps on the main page of the Settings app, which can lead to a lot of scrolling for people with a lot of apps installed, Apple now has a separate Apps menu dedicated to your apps. This clears up the busy settings screen and makes it clearer where to find the controls for individual apps.
