Carolina Panthers (+5) over LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

I smell a trap. After their come-from-behind upset against the Ravens, the Raiders return from the road with a line that has shifted a point in their direction against the pathetic Panthers.

With the second-fewest yards per play and a single touchdown in two weeks, this Carolina offensive team can only improve with the presence of the veteran Andy Dalton.

Dalton has seen limited action since 2022, but despite playing 227 fewer snaps than Young, he ranks higher in expected points added per play, passing percentage and completion percentage than expected among quarterbacks with 500-plus plays.

The Raiders continue to pursue a run-first offense despite having the NFL’s worst yardage at 2.5 yards per attempt. This deficit could leave the back door too small for players to get in.

New York Giants-CLEVELAND BROWNS Under 38.5

Neither transgression seems to be able to escape itself.

The Browns and Giants rank 29th and 25th, respectively, in offensive DVOA, and here’s why: A battered offensive line leaves Deshaun Watson vulnerable, while he can’t find a rhythm with his receivers. He’s completing 58.2 percent of his pass attempts and ranks next to last in third-down conversions.

Betting on the NFL?

The Giants lost in spectacular fashion again in Week 2, as Daniel Jones increasingly lost his job behind a stagnant offensive line and an inconsistent ground game.

This unit can’t respond to pressure, with a turnover rate of 16.7 percent. That will only be further exposed when they go up against a solid Browns defense that allows the most yards per play in the NFL.

Last week: 1-1. Seahawks (left). Jets (out)
