Kamu Grugier-Hill started Sunday in place of Ivan Pace Jr., who missed the game after suffering an injury earlier in the week. Grugier-Hill made his name known on the opening drive. On the second play of the game, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud dropped back and threw a pass that was deflected by Harrison Phillips. Grugier-Hill was there to intercept the pass and set up the Vikings in Houston territory.

A few plays later, Sam Darnold found Justin Jefferson on third down for a six-yard touchdown pass, giving the Vikings an early 7-0 lead over the Texans.

Grugier-Hill was a sixth-round draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Eagles before moving on to four different teams in five seasons. The Vikings signed him this offseason for depth, and he’s played well when given a chance.

Just like last week against the 49ers, the Vikings defense will have to continue to make big plays to win a game like this.
