The Eagles set list Las Vegas Sphere

LAS VEGAS – As the fourth band to take over the Sphere, the Eagles were faced with the challenge of improving their visual style to best suit the iconic Vegas venue.

During the opening show of their residency on September 20 – they will perform 20 shows over selected weekends through January 25 – the band showcased their signature, razor-sharp vocals, paired with a captivating video.

“Hotel California” is an unlikely opener, but the Eagles wisely introduce it early because of the sensory overload of the graphics created for the song: a slow traverse through the hotel hallways, a Greek choir singing the chorus overhead.

The lineup of Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, Vince Gill and Joe Walsh (also joined by longtime touring guitarist Steuart Smith) have adjusted their setlist from the usual setlist on The Long Goodbye Tour, which kicked off in September 2023, by saving “Seven Bridges Road” until the middle of the two-hour set and adding “Those Shoes,” an album cut from 1979’s “The Long Run.”

Other highlights included Gill’s heavenly high range on “Take It to the Limit,” the ethereal “Witchy Woman” complemented by moss-covered trees enveloping fans in the sold-out crowd, and a caffeinated “Life in the Fast Lane,” complete with a moving ride down the Las Vegas Strip.
