BYU Cheerleaders Will Also Wear Throwbacks for K-State Game

PROVO, Utah – The BYU football team won’t be the only team wearing old-school uniforms Saturday night against No. 13 Kansas State.

Along with the football team, BYU’s cheerleaders also immerse themselves in the atmosphere of yesteryear.

While the football team will be wearing throwback uniforms from the 1996 season, BYU’s cheerleading team will also be wearing throwback uniforms from when they played in the 1996 Cotton Bowl.

BYU Cheerleaders Wear Retro Uniforms Against Kansas State

The Cotton Bowl, the conclusion of BYU’s magical 14-straight season, marked the last time BYU played Kansas State in a football game.

Below you can watch a video of BYU’s cheerleading outfits from the 1996 season.

The only difference is that the 1996 versions had blue skirts for the female cheerleaders, while the Saturday night versions are royal blue.

BYU football teams to wear all-white retro uniforms

BYU football will wear all-white throwback uniforms against Kansas State. The Wildcats will wear their purple home uniforms for their first visit to Provo since 1977.

Members of BYU’s 1996 Cotton Bowl-winning team will also be honored during Saturday night’s game at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The BYU Cheer Squad has a recent history as one of the top cheerleading teams in the country. This past April, they placed second in the Game Day Division at the National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, behind only the University of Michigan.
