BOZEMAN, Mont. — — Tommy Mellott threw for three touchdowns and Montana State took a big first-half lead, beating Mercyhurst 52-13.

Rylan Ortt blocked a punt that Zac Crews picked up in the end zone for a 24-0 lead and Mellott threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Adam Jones, who caught the ball on the right sideline and then cut left across the field in the final minute of the first half to take a 31-0 lead.

The Bobcats (4-0), ranked third in the FCS coaches poll, outrebounded the Lakers 502-233 and limited Mercyhurst to just 20 rushing yards.

Mellott was 14 of 18 for 214 yards passing. Colson Coon rushed for 102 yards on 10 carries, including a 50-yard score. Scottre Humphrey added 77 rushing yards and a TD.

Adam Urena completed 28 of 44 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown for the Lakers (1-3).
