A Warning for severe thunderstorms is in effect until 10:00 p.m. for parts of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, including the Mankato/North Mankato area. We continue to track a cold front that could bring severe thunderstorms to parts of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa this afternoon into this evening. Large hail, devastating straight-line wind gusts, and even a tornado or two are possible with any storms that develop over the next few hours. The best chance for storms is along and east of a line from the Twin Cities to Mankato to Estherville, Iowa. Locations west of that line will remain dry and thunderstorm-free. Storms will move out of the region from west to east by mid to late evening. Stay tuned to the weather this afternoon and this evening. The First Alert Weather team will be monitoring closely and will have updates as storms develop.
