Final score: New York Jets 24, New England Patriots 3

In the third game of the 2024 season for the New York Jets, on a beautiful, warm late summer evening in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Jets dominated the New England Patriots 24-3.

After completely dominating the first half, the Jets went into the locker room with an 11-point lead over the Patriots: 14-3.

The Jets opened the third quarter on defense. They picked up where they left off, forcing the Patriots into a quick punt. Then Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense took over, marching down the field again for a long drive that ended in a Garrett Wilson touchdown and a 21-3 Jets lead.

The fourth quarter started with the score still Jets 21, Patriots 3. Unfortunately, right tackle Morgan Moses injured his knee.

The Jets scored a field goal with just over 10 minutes left and the game was essentially over. The rest was extended garbage time. The game ended, fittingly, with a Jets sack, their seventh of the game.

Jets fans, rejoice. For one night, this was exactly what the team had in mind when they assembled their roster in the offseason. Aaron Rodgers was vintage Rodgers. The defense was dominant. The pass rush was home. The running game was clicking. The passing game was pristine. Yes, the Patriots aren’t a quality opponent. But this is what good teams do to bad ones. The Jets dominated at home, banished a few demons, and had a blast.

With the win, the Jets’ record improves to 2-1 on the season. Next week, the Jets will look to improve their record to 3-1 when they host the Denver Broncos at home in East Rutherford.
