‘That’s the key’ – Monaco manager speaks about Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal’s defence

Monaco coach Adi Hutter has urged his team to “give it their all” in defending against Barcelona in the Champions League on Thursday.

Hansi Flick takes his team to France after a perfect start to the new La Liga season. Hutter says his players must be brave.

“It’s not easy to defend against them, we have to do it as a team and all row in the same direction,” he told reporters.

“The team has to be very brave and give everything because we have to take not only Lamine Yamal out of the game, but also Raphinha, Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

“That is the key. We know the quality of a player as young as Lamine Yamal but the key is to defend well against every Barça player, not just Lamine Yamal, and tomorrow we will see how we do,

Hutter also told his team to forget their 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Gamper Trophy last summer and praised his team-mate for the impact he had already made in Catalonia.

“Barça are very aggressive in attack and defence. I really appreciate what Hansi does. We can’t compare him to how he was six weeks ago and he is already showing it in the league,” he added.

“We can’t take that game as a reference because since then they have won five out of five games with 17 goals in their favour, more than three goals per game, which is a lot.

“We know they have several injured players, but they are in top form and I see Hansi Flick making a lot of progress in the way he plays with his teams.

“I really appreciate his work, but we still have confidence in ourselves because we also had a great start to the season.”

Monaco have also started the season well, but have had a poor home record in the Champions League recently, losing their last seven games in a row at the Stade Louis II.
