Sarasota, Manatee County Midseason Volleyball Players of the Year

Halfway through the high school volleyball season, a number of regular players continued to dominate their teams.

A number of newcomers have also broken through and made their impact felt.

There is still plenty of time for others to break through before the end of the season or in the play-offs.

Below are a dozen players who influenced the first half of the season.

Mid-Season Volleyball Players of the Year

Amari Clark

School: Saint Stephen Episcopal

Year: Senior

Analysis: The 5-foot-5 Clark leads the Falcons with 42 kills and a .231 hitting percentage. The outside hitter/defensive specialist is second with 38 digs and third with 10 aces.

Ava Collins

School: Lakewood Ranch High

Year: Junior

Analysis: The 5-foot-8 Collins ranks second on the Mustangs with 26 aces and is third with 192 digs and 121 serve receptions. The outside hitter also has 142 kills, which is second on the team.

Brighton-Ferguson

School: Venice High

Year: Senior

Analysis: The reigning Herald-Tribune Volleyball Player of the Year, Ferguson leads Venice with 149 digs and 195 serve receptions. The 5-foot-5 Ferguson also ranks second with 23 assists and third with 17 aces.

Riley Greene

School: Cardinal Mooney Catholic University

Year: Senior

Analysis: The 6-foot-1 Greene leads the Cougars with 19 blocks. The middle hitter is third on the team with 73 kills and 14 aces.

Charlee Hermann

School: Cardinal Mooney Catholic University

Year: Sophomores

Analysis: The top freshman on the Cougars’ beach volleyball team, the 6-foot-2 Hermann burst onto the indoor scene and ranks second on the Cougars with 76 kills. The right-side hitter also ranks second on the team in blocks with 12 and aces with 18.

Summer Kohler

School: Venice High

Year: Senior

Analysis: The 6-foot-1 Kohler leads Venice with 118 kills and 27 aces. The winger is also third in serve receptions with 88 and digs with 79.

Gabrielle Meese

School: River View High

Year: Senior

Analysis: Meese, a center forward, is the Rams’ best with 108 kills, a 293 hitting percentage and 27 blocks.

Ten Murray

School: Venice High

Year: Junior

Analysis: The 6-foot-1 Murray leads Venice with a .322 hitting percentage and 26 blocks. The center forward is second on the team with 67 kills.

Katie Krachten

School: Cardinal Mooney Catholic University

Year: Senior

Analysis: Powers ranks first for the Cougars with 156 digs and serve receptions with 196. The libero also ranks third with 26 assists.

Carley Ramsden

School: Sarasota University

Year: Senior

Analysis: The 5-foot-5 Ramsden leads the Sailors in digs with 114. The defensive specialist/libero is second with 84 serve receptions and is third on the team in aces and assists.

Izzy Russel

School: Cardinal Mooney Catholic University

Year: Senior

Analysis: The 5-foot-10 Russell leads the Cougars with 105 kills and 20 aces. The outside hitter is also second on the team in digs with 112.

Addelyn VanDuinen

School: Bradenton Christian School

Year: Freshmen

Analysis: The 5-foot-5 VanDuinen has dished out 195 assists. The setter/outside hitter also has 70 kills, 67 digs and 20 aces.
