Actor and musician behind iconic ’70s songs dies at 78

A singer, songwriter and actor who helped write a number of iconic 1970s songs, including hits for the Eagles, has died at the age of 78.

JD Souther died Tuesday at his home in New Mexico, Variety reported. The cause of death has not yet been released for Souther, who performed a few days earlier and had tour dates scheduled in the fall with fellow ’70s singer-songwriter Karla Bonoff.
