Wind gusts up to 60 mph in Casper area on Wednesday, calming in late afternoon

CASPER, Wyo. – A high wind warning is in effect through Wednesday afternoon for the Casper area, as gusts of 55 mph (88 kph) are expected in the city and higher in other parts of Natrona County.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, winds are expected to diminish in the afternoon, but stormy weather will remain through Friday.

There are extreme blowover warnings in effect for Interstate 25 between Casper and Glenrock, and along Outer Driver in Casper beginning at 6 a.m., according to WYDOT. The roads are closed to high-visibility and light vehicles, they said.

The NWS predicts a maximum temperature of 21 degrees today, 24 degrees on Thursday and 27 degrees on Friday.

There is a chance of showers on Saturday and Sunday, but it will be mainly sunny with temperatures around 17 degrees.
