Anna Delvey’s Sparkly Anklet Steals the Show on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster widely known as the “fake heiress”, flashed her shiny anklet in her Dancing with the stars debut on Tuesday.

Her professional dance partner Ezra Sosa described the shiny monitor as the “real star of the show” in an interview with the Associated Press after the new season premiere.

But Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, downplayed the significance of the label.

“It’s actually not a big deal. It’s quite light and I asked them to tighten it so it doesn’t dangle,” she said. “So it’s not that bad.”

Despite the changes to her label, Delvey, who was found guilty of theft in 2019 after defrauding wealthy New Yorkers by claiming to be a wealthy German heiress, wishes she could have performed better in her dance routine set to the tune of Sabrina Carpenter’s pop hit “Espresso.”

“I’m relieved it’s over,” she said. “I feel like my dancing could have been a little bit better, but I’m glad I did it and it was a great experience.”

Sosa suggested that the ankle bracelet was not the cause.

“I think it’s funny how people like it—it’s not like an ankle weight,” he said. “It’s not 20 pounds. It’s literally less than a pound and it’s not that big of a deal.”

Delvey’s ankle bracelet has nothing to do with her conviction for stealing approximately $275,000 from friends and financial institutions in 2019. She wears one as a result of her ongoing legal battle over her deportation from the US.

After being released from prison in 2021, Delvey was detained by immigration authorities for overstaying her visa. The German-born fake heiress was subsequently held by ICE for more than a year before being allowed to continue her deportation fight while being cooped up at home.
