Former England defender Stephen Warnock said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Harry Kane is an exceptional professional.

“One thing we know about Kane is that he has never had super speed. He plays with his head, he sees the space and feels where the ball can end up. He is an intelligent footballer.”

This summer there were calls for Kane, England’s all-time leading scorer, to be dropped ahead of the 2024 European Championship final.

Warnock continued: “He’s going to prove people wrong for years to come. People are going to talk about it (his performance for England at Euro 2024). It was a bad Euro for him.

“It didn’t go well and I think there were several factors involved: an injury he sustained in the latter stages of the Bundesliga, the style of play in England or the wingers he played with didn’t complement him.

“He will score goals at Bayern Munich because he fits the way they play. The one thing Vincent Kompany’s teams have is that they create so many chances.”

Kane scored 44 goals in 45 games for Bayern last season and recently celebrated his 100th England cap with two goals against Finland.

“He will be involved in 50 goals this season, both in terms of goals and assists, but there will still be questions asked about his place in England,” Warnock added.

“I don’t know why people would doubt him, he’s still phenomenal.”

Despite all the goals Kane has scored – 417 for club and country so far – he has yet to win a major trophy.

Last season, Bayern failed to win the Bundesliga for the first time in 12 years.

He also lost the European Championship final twice with England and a Champions League final with Tottenham.

Former Bayern and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves, told TNT Sports: “He played at the level you would expect (last season). The other players didn’t.

“Harry is going to win trophies, the only question is which ones.”
