The Champions League returns on Tuesday, with Europe’s biggest competition revamped, featuring 36 teams playing against eight different opponents in a single competition phase.

The top eight teams advance to the last 16, while teams finishing between ninth and 24th compete in play-offs to be among them. The rest are eliminated from the Champions League.
