Motown legend, member of the Jackson 5, dies at age 70

The music world is mourning the loss of a Motown legend and member of the Jackson 5. According to the Associated Press, Tito Jackson has died at the age of 70.

There were nine Jackson children in all, including Michael and Janet. Tito was the third oldest.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson,” his sons TJ, Taj and Taryll said in a statement on Instagram. “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”

The Jacksons grew up in Gary, Indiana. They were signed to Barry Gordy and Motown and had numerous chart-topping hits in the 1970s, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC” and “I’ll Be There.”

Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Tito Jackson is survived by his brothers Jermaine, Randy, Marlon and Jackie, his sisters Janet, Rebbie and La Toya and their mother, Katherine. Their father died in 2018. Michael died in 2009.
