Joe Burrow dismayed by Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs get late pass interference call

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took advantage of a late defensive pass interference penalty, helping them score a game-winning field goal on their final drive of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Officials determined that Daijahn Anthony had hit Rashee Rice before the Chiefs wide receiver had a chance to intercept a deep pass on fourth-and-16, giving Kansas City a new set of downs with just 38 seconds left in the game.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow couldn’t believe it when he got the penalty. Cameras captured his frustrated reaction as he watched from the sidelines.

Burrow had his arms in the air to celebrate the incomplete throw that would have secured Cincinnati’s first win of the season, but when he realized a flag had been thrown, he was immediately aggrieved. He removed his helmet and slammed it on the ground in frustration.

It was certainly a disappointing ending for the Bengals, and especially Burrow, who watched from the sidelines as Anthony’s second pass interference penalty put the Chiefs in position for a Harrison Butker field goal.

Butker connected on a 51-yard field goal, blasting the ball through the uprights to give the Chiefs a 26-25 victory while Cincinnati fell behind 0-2 on the year.
