Rams WR leaves field with ankle injury

The Los Angeles Rams have another star receiver out with injuries: Cooper Kupp is unlikely to return for their Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals due to an ankle injury.

Kupp appeared to be injured late in the second quarter in Arizona. He made a reception and was tackled by two Cardinals players. He played the rest of the half, but had a noticeable limp and was with the training staff when the two teams went to the locker room for halftime.

When Los Angeles took the field for the second half, Kupp was out of action and continued to be monitored.

The severity of Kupp’s injury is currently unknown, but it’s another blow for a Rams team already missing Puka Nacua. The 2023 rookie sensation was injured in the Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions after injuring the same knee he’d struggled with in training camp. Nacua was diagnosed with a knee sprain and placed on the injured list, which will keep him out for at least a month.

With Nacua and Kupp potentially out for the rest of the game, the Rams will be without their top two pass catchers from last season. The Rams were already facing a huge deficit when Kupp was injured, and trailed the Cardinals 24-3 at halftime. Kupp had four catches for 37 yards in the first half.
