Florida State football fans show sadness as DJ Uiagalelei and FSU wrestle

Florida State football fans are not happy with the game against Memphis.

On the second play of the game, running back Roydell Williams took a hard hit from An’Darius Coffey and fumbled. Chandler Martin picked up the ball for the Tigers at the FSU 25-yard line.

Memphis was limited to a field goal, but DJ Uiagalelei and the Seminoles offense remained lackluster. When ESPN returned from a commercial break before kickoff, TV viewers were greeted by a Seminoles fan in the stands in a garnet polo and bright red wig, drinking from a water bottle and wearing a sign around his neck with a simple message: “We are cooked.”

FSU would go three-and-out with two penalties on the drive. That’s pretty much how the season has gone for the Seminoles, who started out as the No. 10 seed before losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College leave them still searching for their first win.

DJ Uiagalelei interception

Uiagalelei started 5 of 5 for just 7 yards in the first quarter. He finally threw a deep ball before the end of the first quarter, but he was hit as he threw, resulting in a wobbly pass that was easily intercepted.

While the defense looked better early on, linebackers Justin Cryer and Cam Riley both left the field with injuries. Receiver Jalen Brown was also injured on a screen pass.

ESPN cameras saw several FSU fans wearing paper bags over their heads with the words “0-12?” written on them in black ink.
