LSU Football Allows Record to South Carolina, LaNoris Sellers | LSU

Sellers’ touchdown was the longest touchdown run by a quarterback in Gamecocks history.

The score, which gave South Carolina a 14-yard lead with 4:15 left in the first half, also marked the second touchdown run of 65+ yards the Tigers have allowed in two weeks.

LSU also allowed 67 yards on the ground to Nicholls State running back Colin Guggenheim last Saturday.

They trailed 24-16 at halftime, but Sellers’ touchdown run was a low point in an inconsistent first half for LSU’s defense.

The Tigers gave up 265 yards and 153 yards on the ground in the first half, allowing seven yards per rush and touchdowns on each of South Carolina’s three trips to the red zone.

But LSU also recorded three sacks and had two takeaways. Senior cornerback Zy Alexander had LSU’s first interception of the season in the first quarter and redshirt junior defensive back Sage Ryan forced a fumble while sacking Sellers in the second quarter.

Junior linebacker Harold Perkins recovered the loose ball, which eventually led to a field goal for LSU.
