The 2-0 Buffalo Bills started the 2024 NFL season on a hot note, as they swept an Arizona Cardinals team 34-28 on Sunday that gave them everything they had. Buffalo’s season has only just begun, however, as they had to turn around to face the 1-1 Miami Dolphins on a short week in a classic matchup between AFC East rivals.

Despite coming into Miami as slight underdogs, the Bills came out swinging Thursday night, defeating the Dolphins 31-10 in an absolute display of dominance by Buffalo over what is arguably their biggest rival in the division. Star quarterback Josh Allen did what the Bills needed him to do and that was keep drives alive long enough for playmakers like running back James Cook to do their thing against a Miami team that was losing their battle rather quickly.

Despite linebacker Terrel Bernard getting injured and adding to the growing list of ailments for the Bills, Buffalo’s defense continued to stifle the Dolphins’ passing attack, forcing three interceptions and many more incompletions. For a Bills team looking to get back to the playoffs and make a Super Bowl run, this is the kind of start they needed to make those dreams come true this season.

Without further ado, below is the stock report following Thursday’s win over the Dolphins:

Stock Up: RB James Cook

From the start of this game, it was Cook’s night. Not only was he efficient on the ground, but Cook also made an impact in the passing game as he scored on a 17-yard reception to show how good he was feeling after a solid Week 1 in terms of production and offensive workload. It seemed like Cook’s dominance essentially closed the door on any comeback attempts from the Dolphins.

Stocks Down: WR Curtis Samuel

As has been mentioned multiple times on Bills Wire prior to this section, it’s hard to find fault with any one player/phase of the game during a dominant win like Thursday night’s. However, someone needs to be discussed, and this week it’s Samuel. While his lack of impact the past two weeks can be attributed to how hard the Bills are running the ball, there are still plenty of times where Samuel can make a difference, and he just hasn’t made a memorable play yet.

Stock Up: QB Josh Allen

Considering how good Allen is, he’s a candidate to make this list every time, especially with the amount of work that’s been on his shoulders following the wide receiver group’s overhaul early this season. Thanks to a huge night from running back James Cook, Allen didn’t have to do much more than make the necessary plays to keep drives alive and allow players like Cook to make plays and take advantage of a Dolphins team that appeared to be losing its spirit early in this game.

Stocks Down: WR Keon Coleman

After an encouraging Week 1 in which it looked like he would be the primary wide receiver that Josh Allen would throw to, Coleman essentially took Thursday night off thanks to how well the offense performed as a whole. Granted, Allen didn’t look at Coleman all that much on Thursday, and combined with Buffalo being run-oriented and holding a huge lead, Coleman didn’t have much volume to work with either.

Stock Up: LB Von Miller

Miller didn’t have the most dominant night the Bills have seen from him or any Buffalo defender this season, but what was encouraging was his stock in the quickness Miller showed when attacking the passer. Miller spent most of last season trying to get back into the swing of things as he recovered from his knee injury, but Thursday showed he still has some gas left in the tank and the best is yet to come.

Stock Up: CB Ja’Marcus Ingram

It would be foolish to end this article without mentioning Ingram’s stellar play on arguably the best night of his career thus far. Ingram was incredible in coverage on Thursday, which is impressive enough considering Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle didn’t leave the field thanks to a solid Buffalo gameplan, but Ingram made it impossible for Tua Tagovailoa and company by being an absolute ballhawk and even taking an interception to the house to frustrate Miami’s offense.
