Southeast Wisconsin Weather: Warm and Sunny Thursday

Tonight the weather will be clear and pleasant, with minimum temperatures dropping to around 15 to 17 degrees Celsius.

Thursday will be another summer day with temperatures in the 80s across the region. Lakeside will be in the low 80s thanks to a southeast breeze, while inland areas will warm to the high 80s. Skies will be sunny, but slightly hazy due to some lingering wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere. However, it looks like that smoke will begin to thin out.

Then we look south, as Hurricane Francine makes landfall in Louisiana late Wednesday afternoon. The storm will weaken as it moves north along the Mississippi, but will stall and fizzle out south of St. Louis. That means most of the rain will stay in the south, and we’ll only see increasing upper-level clouds filtering the sun Friday through Saturday. Highs will be in the low 80s both days.

Some of the moisture from what’s left of Francine could bring some small rain chances Sunday through Monday. The long-range forecast continues to call for above-average temperatures through the second half of September.
