9 Best Red Carpet Beauty Looks

It’s one of the biggest nights in pop culture: the MTV Video Music Awards, or should we say the “Voluptuous Megan Awards,” as Megan Thee Stallion named the show in honor of her first time hosting. The red carpet was packed with looks, and there were also some glam moments. From Doechii wearing facial tape for the ultimate red carpet facelift to Chappell Roan’s outrageously long chrome nails, here were some of the best beauty moments:

Red carpets are always a great time to completely change your look, and that’s exactly what Megan did. She usually has big, curly hair or long hair, but tonight she’s wearing an asymmetrical bob with thick bangs. A bossy bob fit for a first-time host.

A wet-hair look on the red carpet can either look stringy and like an easy failure, or it can look like this: effortlessly tousled with a glossy sheen, finished with Goldwell StyleSign Extra Strong Hairspray to keep it in place. The style also complemented her Who Decides War dress perfectly, with a barely-there distressed top adding to the cool edginess of the look.

Bailey looks a classic beauty in deep red lipstick, which perfectly complements her skin tone and her red sequin dress.

This hair inspiration could only come from one person: the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC, known for her out-of-the-box hairstyles. GloRilla’s braided ponytails with round shapes are a nod to Left Eye’s braided style at the 2000 Soul Train Awards. Tonight isn’t GloRilla’s first time on the red carpet to honor Left Eye, and she always does it right.

Carpenter’s signature bangs got a Hollywood-glam makeover. From the dramatic volume in her curls to her glossy red lips, flushed cheeks and “pin-up lashes,” according to her makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, she achieved a dreamy, ’60s-esque glam that was the best on the carpet.

Roan literally brought a sword to the carpet, but her extra-long chrome nails wrapped around the sword were a moment. Her manicurist, Juan Alvear, used Gel-X extra-extra-long ends and inlaid pearl accents, the perfect accessory for Roan’s sheer dress.

Doechii’s aesthetic often involves a drastically lifted face as she shamelessly wears face tape. She’s worn it in shoots and photoshoots, but never on the red carpet. There’s a first time for everything, right?

Flo Milli is no stranger to playing with colorful hair. She’s done it all, from purple to vibrant red to blonde, but this shade of deep chestnut hair feels like a perfect introduction to the fall season.

Slicked back hair gives the face a different glow. Jones looked angelic with a shiny, short hairdo. Her hairstylist, Davontae Washington, described it as “sleek, bold and confident.” The glossy finish is thanks to Eco Style’s light sheen.
