Winning $800 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Ticket Sold in Texas

According to the Mega Millions website, someone in Texas just won the estimated $800 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Just one ticket matched all six balls in Tuesday night’s drawing to win the seventh-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever. It was also the 17th-largest jackpot ever won in U.S. lottery history (see lists below).

The winning ticket was sold at the Murphy’s Express gas station on Highway 90A in Sugar Land, Texas.

The winner can also choose the estimated $404.2 million cash option. The final jackpot amount will be based on actual sales.

The last time the jackpot was won was on June 4, when a lottery player in Illinois won $552 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot will be reset to $20 million for Friday night’s drawing.

In addition to the jackpot winner, four tickets matched five white balls, which could win prizes of one million dollars.

Tickets in New York, Florida and Washington each paid out $1 million, while a ticket in California paid out $605,656, as non-jackpot prizes are based on actual sales in the state.
