    Conversely, Trump is likely to attack Harris on issues like the economy and immigration.

    The battle for the White House between Kamala Harris, who is Black and South Asian, and Donald Trump appears to be a close race. According to the latest polls, Trump leads Harris nationally by 48% to 47%.

    According to AFP, Harris has spent the past five days in intense debate preparation, sequestered in a hotel. Trump’s team, by contrast, has indicated that the former president has taken a more relaxed approach in the run-up to the debate.

    The debate will last 90 minutes and will be held without an audience. Tune in at 9 p.m. Eastern Time (1 a.m. GMT, 6:30 a.m. IST).

    Philadelphia buzzes ahead of presidential debate
    In Philadelphia, the cradle of American democracy, residents eagerly awaited the first — and possibly only — debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday.

    The streets were lined with political ads and Harris’ campaign team was set to stage a drone show over the city centre.

    Security fencing was erected around the National Constitution Center, where the confrontation took place and commemorated the signing of the Declaration of Independence nearly 250 years ago.
