    Dave Grohl’s Wife, Kids & Family: What You Need to Know

    Dave Grohl has largely shattered rock star stereotypes with his longtime marriage to Jordyn Blum.

    The 55-year-old Foo Fighters frontman met Blum, 48, in 2001 at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar on Hollywood’s famed Sunset Strip. Blum, a former model, was working as a producer at MTV at the time, Spin reports.

    “When I first met my wife, we went on a few dates and I decided I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling,” Grohl later told Elle. “After three months, I had an epiphany and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again.'”

    The couple married in 2003 at their Los Angeles home. The wedding was reportedly attended by music industry friends, including producer Clive Davis and Grohl’s former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic.

    During their twenty-year relationship, Blum inspired several Foo Fighters songs, including “Burn Away” (from the 2002 album “One by One”) and “Statues” (from their 2007 album “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace”).

    “That song is about my wife and me,” Grohl told GQ of the latter. “To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing a husband and wife’s headstones side by side in a cemetery.”

    Blum has even collaborated with her husband on his musical projects. She co-directed the 2002 music video for “Walking a Line” and appeared in the music video for the 2011 single “White Limo.”

    The couple also have three children, all daughters: Violet, born in 2006; Harper, born in 2009; and Ophelia, born in 2014.

    Grohl and Blum have kept their family life private during their marriage, though all five members walked the red carpet together at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

    On Tuesday, Grohl announced that he has become the father of a fourth daughter, “born out of wedlock.”

    “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” Grohl wrote on social media. “I love my wife and my children, and I am committed to doing everything I can to earn their trust and forgiveness. We are grateful for your consideration for all the children involved as we move forward together.”
