With the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple has increased battery life across all models compared to the previous-generation iPhone 15 models. Every device gets at least an hour more battery life for video playback, with bigger increases for the ‌iPhone 16‌ and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Streaming video playback can last two to four hours longer, depending on the device, and the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models also support extended audio playback. Note: In the comparison below, Apple lists battery life as “up to” because battery life varies based on different usage habits.

  • iPhone 16 – 22 hours of video playback, 18 hours of streaming video, 80 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 16 Plus – 27 hours of video playback, 24 hours of streaming video, 100 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 16 Pro – 27 hours of video playback, 22 hours of streaming video, 85 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max – 33 hours of video playback, 29 hours of streaming video, 105 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 15 – 20 hours of video playback, 16 hours of streaming video, 80 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 15 Plus – 26 hours of video playback, 20 hours of streaming video, 100 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 15 Pro – 26 hours of video playback, 20 hours of streaming video, 75 hours of audio.
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max – 29 hours of video playback, 25 hours of streaming video, 95 hours of audio.

Apple is highlighting battery life gains this year, and product pages for the new devices have a menu to see how much more battery life the ‌iPhone 16‌ models have compared to older devices. For example, if you upgrade from an iPhone 12 mini, you’ll get a seven-hour increase in battery life.

The ‌iPhone 16‌ models support faster 25W MagSafe charging with one of Apple’s new ‌MagSafe‌ chargers and a 30W or higher power adapter. It’s the first time fast charging is available with wireless charging, and ‌iPhone 16‌ users can expect to reach 50 percent charge in as little as 30 minutes.

Qi2 charging is also supported, but it’s limited to 15W, the same as the previous generation’s ‌MagSafe‌ charging.
