Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an upcoming season that will undoubtedly feature high-profile guest stars, retrospective sketches and much more.

With Jason Reitman’s Saturday evening arrives in October, the show’s early days are being remembered in a different way. New cast members have been added ahead of SNL Season 50, and some have been updated to series regulars.

When does SNL Season 50 starts?

Season 50 premieres on September 28.

Who’s in the cast of SNL Season 50?

Newcomers Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline have joined the cast for the landmark season. Padilla has been a main cast member of The Groundlings since 2021 and has appeared in HBO’s Curb your enthusiasm and NBC’s Night court. Wakim made his late-night TV debut in 2022 The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallonof which the executive producer is SNL boss Lorne Michaels. Wickline has a large following on TikTok as a cast member of the live show Stapleview. She also appeared in the 2024 Mubi film My first movie.

Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker have been promoted to the main cast after first joining the sketch comedy show in 2022.

Among the actors not returning for season 50 are Chloe Troast, Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney.

Have the hosts and musical guests been announced yet?

There is no information yet on musicians or celebrity hosts for season 50, but more news is likely to come at any moment before the season premiere.

Musical guests for season 49 included Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Kacey Musgraves, Travis Scott, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and others. Hosts included Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kristen Wiig, Ramy Youssef, Josh Brolin, Sydney Sweeney, Shane Gillis, Ayo Edebiri and others. Additional celebrities who made cameo appearances last season include Caitlin Clark, Glen Powell and Jon Hamm.

What else can viewers expect from season 50 of Saturday Night Live?

With the 2024 presidential election approaching, politics will be a common thread in the sketches as the show comments on current events in the United States. As Deadline exclusively reported, Maya Rudolph will return to play Vice President Kamala Harris, who stepped in as the Democratic nominee for president of the United States after Biden withdrew from the race.
