Forget autumn as the summer heat returns

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – I hope everyone enjoyed the pleasant temperatures this past weekend. Not only will we get a chance to reach 90 degrees once or twice this week, but we might even get one in the next four days!

Additionally, most of the state has a good chance of reaching or exceeding 90. Expect temperatures in the mid to high 90s in western Nebraska with high 80s to low 90s in central and eastern areas.

In addition to a warmer week than the previous one, it will also be a windy week. Expect wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph with some isolated higher winds on Monday afternoon. Similar conditions can be expected through Friday and perhaps even next Saturday.

Temperatures will continue to rise on Tuesday as an upper-level ridge continues to support above-normal levels. As a result, higher 90s and lower 80s can be expected.

Rain wise there has been very little precipitation so far this month. Only a trace has been reported in Lincoln and we may not see rain until next weekend but even then the chance is slim. Elsewhere there may be a tenth of it until Friday with a small chance on Tuesday and Friday too.
