Hey folks! I hope your week is off to a good start. I’m still trying to catch my breath after Monday’s iPhone event, which is always a busy affair for me at my other gig. It’s always a fun event to cover, no matter how hectic it is.

Today News from the New York Times Connections hints and answers coming soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on the News from the New York Times website or Games app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names of participants in a research study, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful with words that fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see if there are any connections between the words.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.

Select four words that you think go together and press Submit. If you guess incorrectly, you lose a life. If you’re close to a correct group, you may see a message that you’re one word away from the correct word, but you still have to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some hints, and if you’re really struggling, the Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games you can easily share the results with your friends via social media and group chats.

Unfortunately, I got my third win in a row without a perfect game.

AF nailed the blues right away, although I made a mistake by including PASS instead of STARS initially. I was pretty sure MONARCHY, CHECKERS, and DECK OF CARDS were all things with queens or kings. It would make sense to include NHL, but I decided to deduce the other groups first to be sure.

To achieve that goal, I came up with the green and then the yellow, leaving the purple group to win.

PS Speaking of kings, I’m almost halfway through a rerun of Game of Thronesmy first since the series ended. It’s a lot pulpier than I remember and the pacing actually works quite well in binge format rather than watching episodes week after week.
