Tyreek Hill scores TD, celebrates handcuff fight after arrest

Tyreek Hill made sure to have his hands behind his back after running down the sideline for a touchdown.

Hill capped off a day that began with his arrest in handcuffs by police for a traffic violation outside the stadium by scoring an 80-yard touchdown with 2:08 left in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jaguars.

Hill, who was cited for reckless driving in the incident with police just before arriving at Hard Rock Stadium, caught a pass from Tua Tagovailoa running across midfield and raced down the left sideline for the score, cutting the Jaguars’ lead to 17-14 with the extra point.

The Dolphins went on to win 20-14, with Hill making seven catches on 12 targets for 130 yards.

After throwing the ball into the stands, Hill stopped at the far corner of the end zone and celebrated the handcuffs.

Teammate Jaylen Waddle released the imaginary handcuffs before they returned to the Miami sideline.

Miami-Dade police say they are investigating Hill’s arrest Sunday, with video footage showing him handcuffed and lying on the ground before being released.

“We are aware of the recent arrest of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by officers of the Miami-Dade Police Department,” Director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement from the MDPD. “I have requested an immediate review of all details surrounding the incident and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

In an interview with NFL Network, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus called his client’s treatment “unnecessary,” adding, “There’s no reason why Tyreek should have been treated that way.”
