The Michigan football team will face its first real test of the 2024 season on Saturday when it hosts No. 3 Texas in the Big House.

The Wolverines, who are ranked No. 9 and expected to field two quarterbacks in Davis Warren and Alex Orji, are set for a star-studded matchup with the Longhorns, who lost to Washington in the College Football Playoff last season. Saturday’s game could have implications for the CFP, with both programs getting a resume boost with a win.

Warren, a former walk-on who started Michigan’s season opener against Kent State, completed 15 of 25 passes for 118 yards with a touchdown and an interception in Week 1. Orji, a dual-threat QB, completed 1 of 2 passes for 3 yards and a touchdown while rushing five times for 32 yards. Warren won the starting job in the midseason and is expected to take most of the snaps on Saturday, as he did in Week 1.

The Wolverines will be tasked with stopping a potent offense led by coach Steve Sarkisian and third-year quarterback Quinn Ewers, the former Ohio State transfer who has thrown for at least 300 passing yards in six straight games against higher-ranked opponents.
