Rich Homie Quan shared cryptic message on Instagram before his death

Rapper Rich Homie Quan, whose unexpected death was announced on Thursday, shared a cryptic final post on Instagram days before the shocking news.

“Clear vision even through the BS 🀫,” he captioned a photo of himself in a green-and-white “89” shirt as he put his glasses back on. He posted the photo on Tuesday.

The “Type of Way” rapper’s death was confirmed by his family, who told TMZ they were “devastated and heartbroken by his sudden passing.”

No official statement has yet been posted on his Instagram account, and his representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

However, podcaster Adam Grandmaison, better known as Adam22, shared a photo of them together on his Instagram Story to commemorate him.

Fellow rapper Boosie BadAzz also appeared to confirm his death, sharing a message on X. “JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA πŸ˜“ #tipQUAN Never forget your smile and the way we talked and of course your music πŸ’―,” he wrote.

He also claimed that he “received word” that Quan had died of an overdose.

Quan’s official cause of death has not yet been released. He was 34.

The Atlanta-born musician, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, has struggled with substance abuse in the past and was charged in 2017 with possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

However, the case was dropped in 2019 due to lack of evidence, TMZ reported at the time.

Quan’s career began in 2013 with the release of “Some Type of Way,” which reached number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100.

β€œIt happened so fast, but I’m very grateful for it,” he told Billboard in September 2013.

β€œIt helps me concentrate better and shows me that people are really paying attention.”

His highest-charting hit was 2015’s “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)”, which peaked at number 26 on the Billboard charts.
