Michael Keaton’s name isn’t actually Michael Keaton.

The “Batman” star chose to use a different last name when he became famous.

Keaton landed roles in “Night Shift,” “Mr. Mom” and “Beetlejuice” in the ’80s, before 1989’s “Batman” propelled him to superstardom.

“I was flipping through — I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” Keaton, now 72, said in an interview with People magazine. “I must have thought, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.'”

Keaton wanted to use the hybrid name for the credits of his latest directorial project, “Knox Goes Away,” but “forgot.”

“I said, ‘Hey, just as a heads up, my credit goes to Michael Keaton Douglas.’ And it completely slipped my mind,” he told the outlet. “And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create it. But that’s what’s going to happen.”

The actor has an upcoming project, “Goodrich,” that is in post-production.

It is not yet clear whether Keaton will use Michael Keaton Douglas for the credits.

“I was always entertaining. Because when you’re the youngest, you have a built-in audience. And they were receptive,” the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” actor explained. “I realized I could make people laugh and get out of trouble or into trouble.”

However, the Golden Globe winner only turned to acting after dropping out of Kent State University.

“I realized that I could make people laugh and help them out of trouble, or get them into trouble.”

Keaton’s strategy for long-term Hollywood success? Don’t panic.

“I never panic,” he said GQ. “If you get desperate, you’re f—ed. Never get desperate. You can get insecure and nervous and think, ‘Wow, man, I’m not doing so well right now.’ But if you get desperate, you’re dead.”
