14-year-old autistic boy Mason Schermerhorn identified as one of 4 killed in Georgia high school shooting

A 14-year-old student with autism has been identified by family members as one of the four victims killed in Wednesday’s mass shooting at a Georgia high school.

According to WSBTV, desperate family members of Mason Schermerhorn circulated his photo on social media after they were unable to reach the teen following the shooting.

“If it escalates PLEASE speak calmly to him,” family members wrote online.

Schermerhorn was shot dead along with another student and two teachers, presumably by 14-year-old suspect Colt Gray. Fox 5 Atlanta

“Let him know that his mother is looking to him for reassurance.”

Schermerhorn’s mother later told the newspaper that her son was among the dead at Apalachee High School.

Schermerhorn, another student and two teachers were shot dead in the shooting, allegedly by 14-year-old suspect Colt Gray.

Another nine victims, including special education teacher David Phenix, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, police said.
