Con artist Anna Delvey added to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast, ankle monitor and all

Convicted con artist Anna Sorokin, aka Anna Delvey, will star in the upcoming 33rd season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” completing the con artist’s bid for fame.

Delvey, who rose to fame when news broke of her sprawling crime spree involving high-profile scams and fraud, was portrayed by Ozark actor Julia Garner in a nine-part Netflix series in 2022, making her a household name.

The “Inventing Anna” muse will share the screen with “90210” star Tori Spelling, NBA champion Dwight Howard, Jenn Tran of “The Bachelorette” and Olympic vaulting horse enthusiast Stephen Nedoroscik, among others, Good Morning America confirmed Wednesday. Other “DWTS” contestants include “The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Phaedra Parks and Delvey’s future dance partner Ezra Sosa.

“The media has seen a representation of her that I personally don’t think is her,” Sosa told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he can’t wait for audiences to meet “the real Anna Delvey.”

Delvey, who has been seen wearing an ankle monitor and a sparkly dress in pre-season promotional photos, is currently under house arrest and has been granted permission to travel within the five boroughs of New York City, in accordance with the terms of her house arrest.

Delvey says the regulator, who was convicted after she made bogus bank transfers, defrauded New York’s elite and cheated hotels and restaurants out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, should not hamper her performance too much.

“How would it affect my performance? It’s actually quite mild,” Delvey told The Hollywood Reporter.

The con artist turned It-girl, who is fighting an immigration case after a judge granted her temporary stay in the US in 2022, confirmed she had received “approval from ICE” to appear on the show.

The German citizen, who was accused of overstaying her visa in 2021, continues to fight to remain in the US.

The series’ 33rd season premieres on Tuesday, September 17 on ABC.
