49ers long snapper receives hateful comments over Ricky Pearsall post after shooting

Long-time player Taybor Pepper was shocked and dismayed when he was attacked on social media over the weekend. He posted a comment expressing relief that Ricky Pearsall was okay after he was shot during an attempted robbery of the 49ers rookie.

“I can’t believe I had to ignore the responses to my last tweet,” Pepper posted on social media after previously supporting his teammate.

Pearsall was shot when a 17-year-old tried to rob him of his Rolex at gunpoint. The rookie resisted and was shot multiple times, one of which hit him in the chest.

“Good to hear Ricky is stable,” he had written earlier, prompting a flood of negative responses.

Social media users saw the post as an opportunity to attack Pepper for his political leanings, while another person used the post as an opportunity to criticize the choice.

“Why? I never liked the draft pick anyway, who cares,” one social media user wrote indifferently in response.

“Are you still a liberal piece of shit?” another person responded, according to the Daily Mail.

It appears that Pepper has changed its settings on the social media platform so that only people mentioned in the post can comment.

The journalist has previously spoken out about politics on social media, criticizing the National Association of Black Journalists for hosting a conversation with former President Donald Trump and calling out popular ESPN host Pat McAfee.

Pepper played 17 games for the 49ers last season and has been a member of the team for the past four seasons.

Pearsall was released from the hospital a day after he was shot on a street in San Francisco.

“He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, the emergency medical services, the doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital,” the 49ers said in a statement after the incident.
